A question to native speakers of English?

"Money's too tight" doesn't necessarily mean there isn't enough, or that the person is broke. It just means that there is very little excess money. There is just enough to cover the expenses, or perhaps even not quite enough. A corporation might spend billions, but if they don't make much beyond that, they might say money is tight. However, I have not heard the song, so I don't know for sure in this case.
