I need help with a cactus?

My husband planted a cactus in a gl jar and gave it to me as a present but it seemed that the cactus was dying. So I replanted it into a different kind of pot and the flowers on the tip of the cactus look wilted. I thought they were dead so I pulled one or two off..but they are still alive just look crappy. Is my cactus dying or what is going on? I love this cactus will my flowers I pulled off ever grow back> help
